UWR: NPP REC rescinds decision to boycott president’s visit

The Upper West Regional Executive Committee of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has retracted its directive to the members of the party in the region to boycott His Excellency, President Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo-Addo’s visit to the region.

It had, thus, entreated the members to come out in their numbers to give a rousing welcome to the President on the day of his visit to the region.

The decision to rescind their move to boycott the president’s visit was announced at a press conference on 18th August ,2022, addressed by the Regional Secretary of the Party, Dr. Tanko Daniel Dawda.

The regional executive committee of the NPP party, at a press conference yesterday, said the Regional Minister, Dr. Hafiz Bin Salih had sidelined the executives of the party in the region in the planning and organisation towards the visit of the President which it viewed as unacceptable.

The president was expected to be in the region on 22nd August, 2022 to inspect ongoing projects in the region including the Agenda 111 projects, commission completed projects including the 13.8 megawatt solar power project at Kaleo and the cut sod for the commencement of new projects.

He was also expected to meet with the chiefs of Wa, Lambussie and Wechiau as well as attend a durbar of chiefs and people at Nandom.
