Residents of Papu appeal for completion of abandoned health Centre project

The residents of Papu Community, located in the Sombo West Electoral Area of the Nadowli-Kaleo District, are making an appeal to the District Assembly to provide assistance in completing an abandoned health facility project in the community.

The health facility project was funded by the Nadowli-Kaleo District Assembly through the district assembly common fund. However, it has been abandoned since its inception in 2016.

Mr. Anataaba Linus, a resident of the community, explained their situation in an interview with Info Radio.

“Access to quality healthcare is a significant problem in our community. When the project began several years ago, we were informed that the district assembly would fund it.”

“However, the project remains incomplete, and we have learned that other communities that received similar projects have already started to benefit from the facilities. We are confused as to why our project is still unfinished," he stated.

Some of the residents further mentioned the challenges they are facing in accessing basic health services delivery in the community.

Many years ago, the government promised us a health facility. However, it remains incomplete. As a result, we decided to take the initiative and convert one of our buildings into a health facility. Unfortunately, we cannot have nurses staying here as the facility is still incomplete.
