Residents of Bonaa Appeal for a Community Clinic


Access to quality healthcare services by the people of Bunaa in the Wa East District has been a challenge, especially for pregnant women, children and the aged. This is because the community members rely on a substandard health facility they built for themselves. The residents of the Bunaa community, who raised this concern in an interview with Info Radio at the community, said the current state of the facility is not able to provide them all the health services needed at the community.

The Assembly member for the Bonaa Electoral area Honorable Fatahu Mwengu speaking to Info Radio disclosed that even though the community has a midwife and two nurses at the facility, they would be glad if the facility is upgraded to a functional status that will enable residents to access critical services beyond the basic services provided by a Community-based Health Planning and Services, CHPS.

The Assembly Member explained that they are not able to access health insurance services at the facility. They therefore appeal to government and philanthropists to assist them get a permanent health facility.

The Chief and people of the Bonaa community have also initiated a community project to construct the Bunaah-Manweh road to ease their access to basic social and economic services, especially in Wa. The Chief of Bonaa, Naa Alhaji Kadiri Seidu Salia lll, has, therefore, appealed to government and other philanthropists to help them complete the project
