Pulbaa Youth Association Donates Learning Materials to Support Education in Pulbaa Basic School

The Pulbaa Youth Association in the Fian Electoral Area of the Daffiama/Bussie/Issa (DBI) District has made a significant contribution to improving education in the Pulbaa community with a donation of essential learning materials to the Pulbaa Basic School.

Speaking to Info Radio, the Youth Chairman, Mr. Lawie Vincent, said the gesture is part of the youth group’s annual commitment to promoting quality education and supporting pupils in the community.

“This year, we donated 30 exercise books, 30 My First Copy books for Kindergarten, 15 My Second Copy books, along with two packs of pens, pencils, and erasers,” Mr. Vincent stated.

He added that the Pulbaa Youth, in collaboration with the Pulbaa Chief, have successfully lobbied for the establishment of a Junior High School (JHS) at the Pulbaa Basic School, which has commenced operations this academic year with an initial enrollment of 20 students.

Meanwhile, the Women Leader of Pulbaa, Pognaa Taanubanye Konwie, called on parents to take an active role in their children’s education. She urged them to provide basic school supplies and ensure that their children are adequately prepared for school each day.

“Parents must support teachers by providing pens, pencils, and books for their children,” she emphasized.

The Chairman of the School Management Committee (SMC), Mr. Dakpiri Solomon, also highlighted absenteeism as one of the major challenges facing the school. He appealed to parents to prioritize their children’s attendance and collaborate with school authorities to enhance supervision.

Mr. Dakpiri revealed that the school currently has only four teachers — one for Kindergarten, one for the new JHS, and two for the primary classes — a situation he described as inadequate for the growing student population.

He appealed to the DBI District Education Directorate to post additional teachers to the school to improve academic performance and reduce the workload on existing staff.
