Prioritize full operationalization of UWR hospital – Mahama to government

Former president John Dramani Mahama, has urged the NPP led government to provide the Upper West Regional Hospital with the needed resources to make it fully operational.

He said he had gathered information that since the commissioning of the hospital in about two years ago, it has still not received seed capital to enable it operate to its full capacity.

Mr Mahama was said this in Wa yesterday when he addressed a durbar of chiefs to kick start his one-day visit to the Upper West Region.

He said the facility was supposed to be a referral centre for the people the region and beyond but that it is unable to perform its referral functions effectively due to the resources and logistical constraint.

The Paramount Chief of the Wa Traditional Area, Naa Fuseini Pelpuo IV commended the president for his sterling performance in the 2020 general election though he and the NDC party could not win the election.

He said it is a testament that Mr Mahama has an unfinished business and needed to come back to complete it. He cited such businesses to include roads infrastructure.

He added that the current state of the parliament will be of benefit to the people of Ghana and was hopeful that he will be elected to lead the party once again in the 2024 general election.
