Police Officer Who Assaulted a Resident In Nadowli Owns Up And Pledged to Support Victim


A police officer stationed in Nadowli, the district capital of the Nadolwi- Kaleo district of the Upper West Region who assaulted a resident and in the process breaking his leg has owned up to his actions and pledged to support fund the victim recovery .

The said police officer identified as lance corporal Ebenezer earlier this week assaulted Mr. Richard Kpere, a resident of Nadowli when he and his colleague were returning from a nearby community.

In a meeting held today under the instance of the district police commander together with the victim's family and the said police officer, Lance Corporal Ebenezer claimed responsibility for his action and promised to foot the medical bills and cost of daily upkeep of the victim and his family until he recovers.

The new development follows a report by Info Radio regarding the police officer abusing his powers and miserably assaulting Mr. Richard Kpere, a security personnel working with the Nadowli-Kaleo District hospital.

The Family head of Richard Kpere , Mr. Zinenuba Peter together with the Assemblyman for Nadowli East met the district police commander to arrive at the decision where the polive promised to support the victim .

Mr. Zinenuba Peter speaking to Info Radio condemned the action of the police officer and called on the regional police command to investigate the case and institute a punitive measure against the said police officer.

Scores of residents of Nadowli who spoke to Info Radio appealed to the regional police administration to transfer Lance Corporal Ebenezer from Nadowli, since he is noted to be terrorizing residents of Nadowli town and adjoining communities.
