The Jirapa Municipal Assembly, in collaboration with the Member of Parliament (MP) for Jirapa, Cletus Seidu Dapilah, has launched the Jirapa Educational Improvement Fund — an initiative aimed at promoting quality education and improving academic performance in the municipality.
The launch, held in Jirapa, was led by the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Peter To-ang, who explained that the fund seeks to transform the educational aspirations of schoolchildren into reality.
According to him, the initiative will focus on enhancing Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) pass rates, organizing capacity-building workshops for teachers, and ensuring effective monitoring of teaching and learning activities.
Mr. To-ang further announced that outstanding BECE candidates would be recognized and rewarded to motivate excellence among students. He reiterated the assembly’s commitment to ensuring that no child is left behind.

On his part, Cletus Seidu Dapilah, the Member of Parliament noted that the decision to establish the fund was driven by the poor performance recorded in recent BECE results.
He revealed that the initiative was launched with an initial seed capital of GH¢100,000.00 to provide essential logistics and resources for improving basic education across the municipality.
Mr. Dapilah also disclosed that chop boxes, each accompanied by GH¢500.00, have been distributed to students who are set to report to their respective schools for the 2025 academic year.
The MCE further indicated that a dedicated committee, made up of representatives from various sectors, has been formed to manage the Jirapa Educational Improvement Fund. The committee will be responsible for reviewing proposals, disbursing funds, mobilizing contributions, and monitoring project implementation.
The Paramount Chief of Jirapa, Naa Dinaa Donglabong Ganaa III, commended the MP, MCE, and members of the Jirapa community, particularly those in the diaspora, for their collaborative efforts to improve the future of children in the area.
