Green Drops Foundation, an organization committed to restoring hope in the vulnerable in society, has donated assorted items to Child Support-Ghana, a foster home in Wa in the Upper West Region.

The items included clothes, shoes, laundry soap and some other items.

Originally established as an HIV/AIDS care centre, and now takes orphaned children and looks after them throughout childhood, Child Support-Ghana in Wa was founded in 2005 by Reverend Daniel Seidu. The facility currently has 20 children in residence, 2 males and 18 females.

The donation was part of the foundation's corporate social responsibility of giving back to society as young people conscious of promoting the wellbeing of a functional society.

The Deputy Executive Director of Green Drops Foundation, Bashiru Issah Danwanaa, speaking during the donation on Saturday, November 13, 2021, said the gesture was informed by the need to create positive change and make life better in a not so friendly and even world.

He said it was heartwarming to give back to society what it deserves, no matter the magnitude of the support adding that, giving out in charity was part of faith as enjoined by the Prophet Muhammad (peace be unto him).

Mr Danwanaa extended a word of gratitude to the founder of Child Support-Ghana for his zeal to catering for underprivileged children and doing same all these years.

He encouraged the children to be inspired and motivated that people out there love them and would do anything to support their welfare and that, they should not see themselves as 'underprivileged'.

"It's nice hearing that you're all attending school, learning and keen to make a difference in society.

All [that] I would like to tell you is to look up to them [some successful individuals who equally passed through the hands of Child Support-Ghana] and achieve better heights and status than they've done.

You should have the desire to be great, the desire to do great and you'll be great, by the grace God," he admonished.

Various team members of the Green Drops Foundation took turns to share useful insights with the little children at the facility. The team also engaged in play activities with the little children as well as reproductive health titbits with the adolescent girls.

Children shown love and care

Organizing Secretary of the foundation, Masiata Sufyani, advised the children diversify their life choices and priorities by turning their passions into professions.

A team member of the Green Drops Foundation, Mansura Umar, sharing insights into the education life of the children, encouraged them to take their learning serious as it has greater chances of landing them juicy sponsorship packages to further their education.

Talking from the perspective as a CAMFED beneficiary, she told the little ones that they could easily be picked for sponsorship by virtue of their situation, when they acquire good passes.

Abdul Na-eem Muniru, another member of the foundation, told the children that life is balanced on a scale of challenges and opportunities and that with perseverance and conscious of being, one could always turn challenges into opportunities for the betterment of one's life.

He added that the future was bright for the children but hastened to add that, they must take their academic work seriously as well as developing good behavioral patterns and human relations.

Children smile as they enjoy yoghurts

Talking about sponsorship packages for needy children to attain higher learning, Hamdiatu Batieha Alhassan, a team member, added that there were many other organizations and schemes aside the CAMFED which the children could tap in.

She mentioned the Mastercard Foundation, Vodafone scholarship, MTN Bright scholarship, GNPC scholarship, Scholarship Secretariat and Northern scholarships, but admonished that they must first learn hard to be able to access them.

The Founder and Director of Child Support-Ghana, Rev Daniel Seidu, receiving the items, commended the youth for the gesture saying that it was a virtuous habit the young men and women have started to cultivate.

He said it was a gesture worth emulating by peers, other organizations and individuals towards putting smiles on the faces of these youngsters.

He said the doors of the home are always opened to people who actually seek to give back to society.
