DCE blames parents for children's poor performance in BECE

The District Chief Executive for Nadowli-Kaleo District, Madam Catherine T Lankono, has blamed parents in the district for their children’s poor performances in the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) every year.

According to the DCE, children ranging from 12-15 years are always on the street attending record dances at night to the detriment of their education.

Speaking to parents during the Sakana-Lonkro Mother-to-Mother Support Group health durbar at the community, Madam Lankono said mothers should take their girl children's education seriously.

The Paramount Chief of Sakana Traditional Area, Naa Saakoe Mornah III, indicated that the increasing state of street children in the Traditional Area is rampant.

Naa Saakoe III noted that some parents care for their animals more than their own children.

Naa Saakoe III, therefore, stated that parents should start disciplining their children at their early developmental stages so that they will not become disobedient.
