A Disabled Resident of Nadowli Assaulted by a Police Officer


A police officer stationed at the Nadowli police station has been accused of assaulting a resident and in the process breaking his leg.

The police officer identified as Ebenezer is noted to be terrorizing residents in the Nadowli/Kaleo district of the Upper West Region.

The victim of the police assault, Mr. Richard Kpere narrating the incident to Info Radio said, the police officer stopped him and a colleague when they were returning from Chari-kpong, a community in the Nadowli/Kaleo district. According to him, upon reaching the police barrier they were stopped by the police for not wearing a crush helmet. Per his account, his colleague was still speaking with the police when he decided to take the lead to pick a crush helmet . According to Mr. Richard Kpere, while walking on the road to pick the helmet, the said police officer rushed to him and kicked his legs with his boots and in the process broke his leg.

Mr. Richard Kpere is currently admitted at the Nadowli district hospital .

The case of assault against the said police officer Mr. Ebenezer is reported to the Nadowli district police for investigations.

An eye witness Mr. Samuel speaking to Info Radio from Nadowli disclosed that, the accused police officer is noted for assaulting residents and called on the leadership of the Ghana police service in the Upper West Region to investigate the case of assault against Mr. Richard Kpere by the police officer.

Reliable information reaching Info Radio reveals that, the case has been referred to the regional police administration for investigations.
