Wa West DCE cuts sod for the commencement of EU roads project

The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Wa West, Madam Vida Diorotey, has cut sod for the construction of roads under the European Union-sponsored feeder roads project in the Wa West District.

Speaking at the short event on Tuesday, May 16, 2023, the DCE expressed her gratitude to the president of Ghana and the European Union (EU) for the generous intervention in the road infrastructure in the district.

According to the DCE, she has toured the entire district to monitor all the EU road projects ongoing in the district.

Madam Diorotey appealed to the EU and the government of Ghana to extend the project to other parts of the district to improve the road network across board.

She also appealed to engineers at the site to speed up to prevent the floods from impeding the progress of work.

The Deputy Head of Mission, European Union Delegation to Ghana, Mr. Pieter Smidt Van Gelder, said the construction of the roads would improve agricultural activities in the district and also reduce travelling time to access markets.

He said the 130 million dollar project forms part of the Upper West Region-wide coverage of 679km stretch of roads to be constructed.
