Updated: Oct 14, 2020

Residents of Piisi , a community in the Wa Municipality of the Upper West Region have bemoaned the prevalence of armed robbery cases in the community.

According to residents of the Piisi community, the community has become a fertile ground for night armed robbery due to the lack of streetlights.

In an interview with Info Radio News Reporters, a resident of the community Mr. George Dery said the situation has caused robbers to rob several people of their valuables. He noted that the armed robbers take advantage of the darkness in the community in the night to perpetrate their crimes.

Residents are therefore calling on the Wa Municipal Assembly and the government to take immediate steps to provide streetlights to the community to help reduce the rate of armed robbery in the community.
