Residents of Wa raise concerns over rising levels of insecurity in the municipality in recent days
Residents of some suburbs in Wa, the Upper West Regional capital, have raised concerns over the rising levels of insecurity in the municipality in recent days, especially during night fall.
Speaking to Info News Team, a resident, who would rather speak under condition of anonymity, complained of rampant criminal activities in his area of residence, around Duori and Wapaani suburbs, every night.
He mentioned waylaying, snatching of phones and force break-ins as but few of the instances that have bedeviled the area.
“There are few issues of insecurity that residents of these areas are confronted with…I wouldn’t say we are safe here with the current happenings,” the resident told.
The resident also revealed allegedly that a certain prison officer has been perpetrating the criminal act around the area for some time now.
He narrated that residents quietly monitored his ways and napped him few weeks ago.
Residents thought careful monitoring and investigative vigilance from the security outlets and investigative bodies could help reduce crime wave in the municipality.
Of recent, residents felt insecure and their lives threatened as a handful of murder cases have been committed by assailants with no traces in the municipality.
However, the security agencies in the region have assured the public of full protection and curtailing the menaces.
Info Radio reporters are however in the process of verifying claims by residents of Wa about the insecurity situation with the police administration and the case involving the alleged prison officer with the Wa prison administration.
More details of the story will be publish soon.
