Residents of Motigu in dire water situation

The residents of Motigu, a community in the Ducie electoral area, Wa East District say they are in a dire water situation.

They said the community has only two boreholes that do not flow well and a mechanized borehole, which spoiled months ago, is left with only a dugout that has also almost dried out.

Speaking on the matter to Info News in the community, Mr Alhassan Rashida, a resident, said their reliable water source for the past eight months had been the dugout in which they compete with animals.

Madam Doge Warikiah said the women in the community are suffering too much over the water.

She said the water situation has created deep-seated hostilities in the community because even the dugout cannot satisfy their water needs.

Mr Mohammed Ibrahim Kala blames politicians for being indifferent about what they are facing with regard to the water situation.
